Fatima Zahra Mosque Initiative

At the 6-acre plot of farm land, we have established the Fatima Zahra (A.S.) Mosque. The mosque is under the care of a dedicated Sheikh who also runs an Islamic learning center, Hauza, called Markaz Ahlul Bayt. This center follows a structured Islamic studies curriculum provided by the Bilal Muslim Mission of Dar es Salaam. This two-year program is specially designed for the underprivileged youth in Tanzania who have not had the opportunity to complete their primary education.

QT Program for Youth

In addition to religious studies, we offer a government-recognized QT (Qualifying Test) course. This intensive two-year crash program provides a second chance to youths who missed out on formal education or dropped out of school. The program is currently taught by two qualified teachers and serves 14 students. We successfully completed the first year with 9 students and recently enrolled 5 additional students. These students live in dormitories at the Hauza. Their needs are modest, as they come from impoverished backgrounds, and we do our best to provide for them with what we can.

Skill Development & Livelihood

Upon completion of the QT program, students have the opportunity to pursue vocational training at VETA (Vocational Education and Training Authority) centers, where they can acquire practical skills to help them secure sustainable livelihoods.

The youth at the Hauza actively participate in various agricultural activities. Under Hamed’s guidance, they are learning essential farming and livestock management skills. These hands-on experiences are crucial in equipping the youth with practical skills that will serve them well in the future, whether they choose to pursue agriculture or other fields.

Friday Meal for Community

Every Friday, after the congregational Friday prayers, we provide lunch at the mosque for anyone in need. The meal consists of goat meat pilau, a traditional rice dish, prepared and served with the intention of helping those who may be struggling to afford a meal. This initiative is open to all members of the community, ensuring that no one goes hungry after the Friday prayers, regardless of their background or financial situation.

Ramadhan Iftar for All

Additionally, during the holy month of Ramadhan, we make it a priority to support those in need by providing Iftar (the meal to break the fast) every day at the mosque. Iftar is offered to anyone who is fasting and in need, allowing them to break their fast in a community setting with a warm and nourishing meal. This daily gesture of charity is part of our commitment to providing for the less fortunate and fostering a sense of unity and compassion within our community during this sacred time.
