Our Farm

Farm & Community Development

Our farm is located approximately 10 km from the orphanage, and it serves as a hub for both farming and animal husbandry. The farm is managed by Hamed, a skilled farm manager who recently graduated from Sokoine University of Agriculture. With his expertise, Hamed oversees the daily operations of the farm and helps implement sustainable practices.

We have set up several small income-generating projects on the farm, which include

Farm & Community Development

The produce from these projects supports the daily needs of the orphanage and Hauza. We also sell any surplus crops and products produced, to provide a sustainable source of revenue that can be reinvested into the farm and the orphanage.

As part of our long-term goal of becoming self-sufficient, we are working to develop the farm into a fully functional, profitable operation. A key step in this process is constructing a fence around the property, which will help protect both our crops and livestock from potential threats.

Ensuring the safety of our livestock, including chicken, cows, goats, and fish ponds, is vital to our farm’s success. The fencing of the land will guard against poachers and other risks. In the near future, we also plan to expand our livestock operations by introducing broilers and layers as part of our ongoing effort to build a self-sustaining, diverse farm.
